Winter abundance of hole-nesting birds in natural and managed woods of Zealand (Denmark)

Foraging observation of tits and associated species were recorded in natural old-growth vs managed forests. The daily number of foraging observations for most species was significantly higher in natural old-growth than managed woods. The results also suggest that lack of food resulting from silvicultural practice could be an important limiting factor in managed forests. Text: Jens Bursell
